We are looking for a Senior Design Engineer to join our BUX team based in Amsterdam.

The Web team is building BUX’s new desktop investing experience, a major strategic step for a company that has historically been mobile-only. We’re a cross-functional group with product, frontend, and backend engineering, design, and QA, working closely with Mobile, Onboarding, Marketing, Data, Operations, and Compliance.

What you will do

You’ll help define and build the foundation of BUX’s web experience, shaping our design system, validating financial flows, and accelerating product development with practical AI-powered workflows. This role sits at the intersection of product design, frontend engineering, prototyping, and modern AI tooling.

You’ll move from concept → prototype → production-adjacent implementation, influencing product direction through hands-on creation and helping the team progress from early problem definitions to validated solutions quickly. You’ll bring strong craft, interaction quality, usability, and thoughtful system-level thinking as we build the foundations of our web experience.

Tech stack: React, Vue.JS, TypeScript, Tailwind, Node/Edge runtimes, and AI-assisted workflows (Figma ↔ code, UI generation, logic simulation).

In this role, you will:

• Contribute to discovery workflows: user research, competitive analysis, and AI-assisted exploration and help shape problem definitions before moving into solutions.

• Build interactive prototypes and functional flows that validate product direction and reduce uncertainty, translating UX direction into high-quality, production-adjacent, desktop-first web interfaces.

• Shape and maintain BUX’s web design system alongside Design, applying strong interaction and visual craft, usability, accessibility, and system-level thinking to create scalable patterns.

• Introduce and operationalise AI-powered workflows to speed up design, prototyping, and documentation.

• Collaborate with Mobile, Engineering, and other teams to ensure conceptual consistency across platforms, without forcing mobile patterns onto the web.

• Validate financial and user flows in real environments to ensure the web product scales with future complexity.

• Communicate design decisions clearly through prototypes, documentation, and concise storytelling.

What you need to succeed

• Strong experience in frontend engineering (React/Next or similar)

• Ability to rapidly prototype and turn concepts into functional experiences

• Excellent collaboration skills with Product and Design partners

• Comfortable working in ambiguity and shaping first-version experiences

• Proven experience using AI as part of your design and engineering workflow, for generating UI, exploring component variants, translating Figma ↔ code, simulating logic, and accelerating documentation

Nice to have

• Experience with design systems or hybrid design-engineering roles

• Background in financial products or complex workflows
