The Role

We're looking for a Senior Product Owner to lead the BUX Broker Team which builds and maintains all of our core brokerage infrastructure. This team is at the heart of everything we do because their systems are responsible for processing all customer transactions.

Your goal as the Senior Product Owner for this team will be to build and maintain systems that handle all transactions for users, like deposits, withdrawals, trades, dividends, fees, taxes, etc. Your team will maintain connections to stock exchanges and other venues where we execute trades, and also maintain systems that keep records of all cash, stocks, ETFs, and commodities owned by BUX customers. Together with the team of talented backend engineers, you will play a critical role in developing new investing features. You will work directly with the operations, business intelligence, back-office, and client engineering teams to coordinate development activities.

You will report directly to the Chief Product Officer.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the Chief Product Officer to understand user behaviour and needs and use this to develop product strategy;
• Create and maintain a high impact roadmap for your domain;
• Collaborate with engineers, external partners (e.g. banks, exchanges, payment providers) and internal teams (Operations, Back-Office, Compliance, other Product teams etc.) to explore customer problems and new market opportunities;
• Define new features, create user stories and lead a dedicated scrum team of backend developers to deliver results in 2-week sprints;
• Work with third parties and external partners to develop innovative integrations for the domain;
• Monitor product analytics (stability, performance, etc.) and take action to maintain our systems and scale them as required to handle BUX’s tremendous growth.

Requirements

• Prior experience as a Product Owner / Product Manager for a team of back-end developers on a complex platform product or service;
• Prior experience with financial technology (e.g. banking, brokerage, accounting, payments etc.) is a must-have;
• Prior experience directly collaborating with a backend engineering team to create feature stories, curate and prioritize an impactful backlog, and execute at a rapid pace;
• Prior experience working with agile methodologies running sprint plannings, retrospectives and other scrum ceremonies, preferably using tools such as JIRA or Confluence;
• Knowledge of and / or personal interest in personal investment or the financial markets is a strong plus;
• Ability to communicate your ideas clearly and take end-to-end responsibility for the features your team delivers;
• Strong leadership, organizational, communication and execution skills;
• Comfortable in an English-speaking work environment.
