The Opportunity

As the Head of Engineering at Urban Sports Club, you will shape our technological future. Reporting to the VP of Engineering and partnering with the Head of Product, you will co-lead the Hive, consisting of backend-focused teams dedicated to building and maintaining a robust, scalable, and secure platform. Your mission is to drive the evolution of our technology stack by building new systems to meet strategic objectives. You will oversee strategy, staffing, and architecture evolution.

Collaborate with Product, Data leads, and peer Heads of Engineering to develop and deliver critical integrations, services, APIs, and tools. If you are a passionate and experienced technology leader with a strong track record, we encourage you to apply.

Your Responsibilities

• Provide strong technical leadership, guiding and mentoring a high-performing engineering team. Foster a collaborative and innovative culture.
• Develop and execute a comprehensive Hive engineering strategy that aligns with the overall Engineering vision.
• Lead the development of cutting-edge solutions and implement innovative practices. Empower engineers to experiment with new technologies.
• Attract, develop, and retain talented engineers. Work with the TA team on successful employer branding initiatives.
• Promote technical projects that improve system health. Foster a culture of inclusiveness, respect, fun, and high energy.

What You Need to Succeed

• You have over 10 years of engineering experience, excelling in large-scale environments and leading diverse teams to success.
• You possess proven leadership and mentoring skills, fostering an inclusive and supportive work culture.
• You have a strong understanding of cloud-native architectures, including GCP or similar platforms.
• You are an expert in containerization technologies, particularly Kubernetes, bringing efficiency and scalability to your projects.
• You are skilled in designing and building distributed systems, ensuring reliability and performance.
• You are proficient in cybersecurity, implementing secure and resilient solutions.
• You have excellent communication and collaboration skills, working effectively with colleagues from diverse backgrounds.
• You are passionate about technology and innovation, always seeking new challenges and opportunities for growth
