Here at The Exploration Company, we are developing, producing, and operating Nyx, a modular and reusable space orbital vehicle that can eventually be refuelled in orbit and that can carry cargo - and potentially humans in the longer run.

We want you as a talented AIT intern to help us in our mission by supporting the Mechanical (including Fluidic) Ground Support Equipment (MGSE) activities in the ongoing development and testing phase.

You will be successful in this role if you are able to help us in:

  • Designing MGSEs (including 3D printed tools) needed for the different ongoing developmental testing activities

  • Procurement, assembly, testing and commissioning of these MGSEs

  • Supporting the various AIT activities of the different sub-systems, including the demonstrator capsule, as needed.

  • Writing procedures and other documentation

  • Supporting the team in organizing and maintaining the AIT facilities.

Tasks:

Your role will be continuously evolving, but day to day your duties will include:

  • Designing (both independently and together with other MGSE engineers) the required MGSEs using CAD software (Siemens NX).

  • Supporting the procurement and inventorization of all the parts and tools for these MGSEs.

  • Building and testing the MGSEs (both independently and together with other MGSE engineers).

  • Contributing to / writing AIT procedures.

  • Participating in different AIT activities where these MGSEs are being used.

  • Creating and maintaining inventory of items and organizing the storage of all GSE (and other) parts.

  • Contributing to our processes improvement with the lessons learnt from previous operations.

  • Participating in off-site AIT activities as needed.

What we would love to see from you:

In the role of Mechanical intern ideally, you will have the following:

  • Studying for an Engineering degree (Master or PhD) in mechanical engineering or equivalent

  • Willingness to contribute to build and support a young team

  • Organised, rigourous and open to learning

  • Hands-on approach
