In the Merchants Experience squad, you will be responsible for several initiatives to deliver an engaging experience for the merchant in the Sumup SuperApp. This application has a unique positioning and offers access to merchants to the Sumup rich product portfolio.

About the role
As a Senior Android Developer in the BR Market team, you will join a cross-functional team and work alongside a Product Manager, Product Designer, Senior iOS Developer, Android Developer and a Frontend Developer. The team is responsible for ensuring the adequation of the Sumup products to the Brazilian market. It implies strong collaboration with other Core tribes such as Bank, Payment, Lending, Hardware and POS.
On a daily basis you will be building new features related to Brazilian specificities (PIX, Instalment, fiscalization, etc.) within the SumUp SuperApp, increasing the expertise of the team on Kotlin Multiplatform, maintaining the quality of existing features, and improving the architecture of the application.
To be successful in this role you should be someone who cares about user interaction, usability, and have attention to detail. Your communication is structured and precise, and you thrive when collaborating cross-functionally.
What You’ll Do:
Collaborate with software developers, QAs, designers, product managers, and other key stakeholders to design and implement Mobile features,
Establish good communication and collaboration with other tribes to design and deliver Android features that will affect the Brazilian market (examples: PIX credit (Lending), Android Reader (Hardware), etc.),
Ensure appropriate discoveries, spikes and technical descriptions for all stories and tasks,
Participate in code reviews and pair programming to improve code quality and knowledge sharing,
Continuously adopt and promote best practices within the team, focusing on high-performance, monitoring and crash-free releases,
Ensure smooth deployments, continuous integration, and support existing functionalities in the SuperApp,
Provide comprehensive documentation and maintain high test coverage,
Actively contribute to tool and technology selection, driving backend-related discussions and decisions.
You’ll Be Great for This Role If You Have:
Native development experience with Kotlin and the Android framework,
Modular Architecture, MVVM, SOLID, Rest APIs and experience to ensure modularized and scalable app architecture,
Unit testing and Dependency injection,
Firebase Crashlytics,
Adaptability to work on a fast-paced environment,
Experience with working with multi-tasked teams,
Proficiency in English in order to actively participate in meetings with people from other countries.
Bonus Points If You Have:
Experience of development with Kotlin Multiplatform (KMP),
Native development with Java,
Experience with Compose,
Experience with gRPC,
Experience with instrumented testing,
Experience in working with financial services.
