Job Description

Join a hands-on and growing team where collaboration truly matters. While customs is often paperwork-heavy, we take a technology-first approach, automating processes and building smarter solutions for cross-border trade.

In this role, you will lead our operational Customs team with end-to-end responsibility for daily export and import customs clearance across our key corridors, including the EU, Switzerland, the UK, and Norway. You combine hands-on operational expertise with the leadership skills to build, motivate, and develop a high-performing team. At the same time, you will not only run the process; you will challenge it: as we grow rapidly, you will be the architect of the next generation of scalable, digital-first, AI-supported customs operations, and you actively bring your customs expertise into both customer-facing solution design and our wider product development.

The essence of your role:

  • Leading, motivating, and developing a team of 6 customs specialists, ensuring smooth daily export and import clearance operations.
  • Acting as a sparring partner to Operations and Commercial leadership on customs strategy, capacity planning, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Owning end-to-end customs compliance and processes across EU, Swiss, UK, and Norwegian frameworks, driving digitalization, automation, and AI-supported transformation to enable scalable growth.
  • Managing relationships with external stakeholders, including freight forwarders, hubs, warehouses, customs brokers, and customs authorities, to ensure operational excellence and full compliance.
  • Partnering with customers on customs-related topics to enable their business, onboarding new clients efficiently, and actively shaping the next generation of Seven Senders' customs product through your expertise in solution design.

Qualifications

This is what you need to succeed:

  • 2–3 years of leadership experience (team lead, deputy lead, or significant lead-coordinator role) combined with several years of hands-on customs operations experience, covering both day-to-day customs clearance work and process ownership.
  • Deep knowledge of customs and compliance frameworks across the EU, Switzerland, the UK, and Norway, with hands-on familiarity with ATLAS and corresponding national systems.
  • A strong appetite for process innovation; you have a clear point of view on how digitalization, automation, and AI can replace manual customs work, and the discipline to deliver on it.
  • A genuine desire to bring your customs expertise into customer solutions and the further development of our customs product; you want to help shape what comes next, not just run what exists today.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, comfortable operating with both warehouse teams and senior stakeholders; paired with C2 German skills (essential for daily interactions with German and Swiss customs authorities) and business-level English (C1/C2).
