The Buyer is responsible for managing procurement activities, ensuring effective sourcing negotiation, and delivery of goods and services that support business objectives. The role requires independent decision-making, strong supplier relationship management, and proactive collaboration with internal stakeholders to optimize cost, quality, and performance.
Responsibilities
- Acts as a procurement business partner supporting operations & project teams, while ensuring alignment with business priorities.
- Independently selects and develops suppliers within an international panel, including supplier audits, risk evaluation, and performance monitoring.
- Lead negotiations and prepare external agreements, ensuring purchasing objectives and compliance requirements are met.
- Reviews and ensures contract terms and order clauses fully comply with procurement policy and mitigate business risk.
- Provides financial analysis and reporting for procurement activities, comparing agreement outcomes against budget forecasts.
- Tracks and manages all purchasing stages through to final acceptance, ensuring delivery, quality, and cost objectives are achieved.
- Builds and strengthens relationships with key internal stakeholders and suppliers, identifying and promoting best practices across projects and functions.
- Manages supplier nomination activities, including audits, NDAs, T&Cs, risk evaluation, competitive bidding (RFQ), and price negotiations.
- Oversee spend control and project-level budget forecasting, recommending cost optimization opportunities.
- Owns and drives the end-to-end purchase-to-pay process for assigned projects, ensuring efficiency and compliance while making sure to have the necessary components in stock to secure production.
- Operates across both direct and indirect purchasing, with accountability for strategic procurement activities.
- Contribute to the implementation and continuous improvement of a Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) tool to enhance supplier collaboration, performance visibility, and strategic sourcing capabilities.
Minimum level of education within a specified field:
- Master's degree in procurement and/or Supply chain
Minimum years of work-related experience in a specified field:
5+ years of procurement experience in a multinational industrial, engineering, or manufacturing in a high mix low volumes environment. Demonstrated experience in the medical device sector with CDMO management is highly valued.
Required additional knowledge/skills
- Proven experience managing supplier relationships and leading negotiations at an international level.
- Solid understanding of BoMs, PO processes, and technical drawings.
- Strong experience with RFP and supplier nomination processes.
- Working knowledge of contract law and risk management.
- Financially literate with experience in cost analysis, reporting, and forecasting.
- Skilled in implementing procurement process improvements and driving efficiency.
- Ability to work in a start-up environment (Hands-on and flexible)
- English at a fluent level
