At ONWARD Medical, we share the vision that people with spinal cord injury will enjoy life in the ways that matter to them. To support this vision, we develop targeted stimulation of the spinal cord using non-invasive and implantable technologies combined with brain-computer interfaces (BCI).
The development of these medical device begins with defining clear, traceable requirements based on user needs, regulatory expectations, and risk management considerations. These requirements guide the creation of design outputs, which include detailed specifications, drawings, and procedures necessary for manufacturing and testing. The process culminates in verification activities that ensure the design outputs fulfill the original requirements through rigorous testing, analysis, and documentation, confirming the device’s safety and performance.

Within the internship, the candidate will contribute to
- the activities along the entire product development lifecycle
- the development of verification test systems for our implantable spinal cord stimulation platform
- Bachelor's or Master's student in engineering, technology, robotics, or a related field.
- Good programming skills, preferably in Python.
- Interest in system engineering, coding, hardware development and problem solving.
- A team player who enjoys collaboration with people from different backgrounds and experience levels.
- Results-oriented, hands-on and thriving well in an innovative, fast-paced and performance driven organization.
- Advanced level of English.
- Applicants must already hold a valid Swiss work/student permit or be eligible to work in Switzerland (Swiss or EU/EFTA citizenship).
