The impact you will make
Your responsibilities
- Support on-site installation, alignment, and integration of high-power, ultrafast laser subsystems
- Assist with commissioning activities, system checks, acceptance testing, and performance validation
- Conduct routine system diagnostics, maintenance, and troubleshooting under guidance from senior engineers
- Gather and report field data to engineering teams to help refine system designs and procedures
- Contribute to documentation such as operating procedures, alignment guides, and maintenance logs
- Collaborate with partner facilities and suppliers during deployment and testing phases
- Participate in R&D activities including prototype testing, component evaluation, and optical assembly
- Travel internationally for several weeks at a time to support installations and operations
What you bring
- Bachelor’s or Master’s, PhD degree in Physics, Optical Engineering, Laser Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
- Hands-on experience working with ultrafast or high-power laser systems (e.g., during studies, internships, or industry roles)
- Practical skills in optical alignment, optomechanical setup, and safe laser operation
- Familiarity with diagnostic tools such as oscilloscopes, spectrometers, autocorrelators, or energy meters
- Basic understanding of ultrafast laser principles, nonlinear optics, or beam propagation
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative working style
- Proactive, hands-on mindset with willingness to work in dynamic laboratory and facility environments
- Ability and enthusiasm to work and travel globally
What sets you apart
- Experience with field work, technical service, laboratory operations, or commissioning activities
- Exposure to CPA/OPCPA systems, diode-pumped lasers, or high-energy laser labs
- Familiarity with industrial or research safety standards, including laser safety
- Experience using optical design or simulation tools (Zemax, LASCAD, etc.)
- Knowledge of programming or automation tools (LabVIEW, Python, EPICS, PLC systems)
