About the Role:
As a hands-on Engineering Manager at Ledgy, you'll shape how thousands of employees worldwide experience equity ownership. Leading a team of 4-6 exceptional engineers, you'll balance hands-on technical contribution with people leadership, helping transform complex equity management into intuitive, empowering experiences. You'll report directly to the Head of Engineering and play a key role in scaling our platform.

- Have 3+ years experience in Engineering Management and 6+ years as a Software Engineer

In the first 30 days:
- Build meaningful relationships with your direct reports and understand their career aspirations
- Contribute code to features in production while gaining expertise in the domain of equity
- Join the engineering leadership team and understand how we translate product vision into technical reality
In the first 3 months:
- Deeply understand how your team's work impacts thousands of companies and their employees
- Drive technical excellence and maintain the team’s velocity by unblocking PR reviews, shipping small features, and helping coordinate complex work
- Have regular 1:1s with your reports and support them in their growth
- Shape technical strategy alongside Product and Design leadership
- Lead hiring for critical team roles
In the first 6 to 12 months:
- Be recognized as a technical leader who elevates your entire team's capabilities
- Continue reviewing PR and shipping code for non-blocking work
- Lead meaningful career development conversations and conduct performance reviews with your reports
- Own engineering initiatives that define how we scale our platform and organization
- Influence product direction as a trusted partner to leadership across the company
The interview process:
- CV Review: We review your background to see if there's mutual alignment for the role
- Getting to know you (30 min): A call with our Head of Engineering to discuss your experience, motivations, and answers any questions you might have about Ledgy and the role
- Live Coding (75 min): We'll present you with an equity domain problem to solve collaboratively using your preferred language and IDE
- System Design (60 min): You'll walk us through an architecture you've significantly contributed to in the past, and we'll explore different aspects based on your experience
- Mock 1:1 (45 min): Mock coaching conversation with one of our engineers to see how you approach people management and development
- Culture & Vision (30 min): Meet one of our founders to discuss Ledgy's mission, your motivations, and how you think about equity's role in building great companies
