About us

At Kubermatic, we believe that businesses should focus on their core purpose: writing groundbreaking applications, not operations. In line with our commitment to make Kubernetes as easy as possible, we help IT teams worldwide to fully automate their Kubernetes and cloud native operations across multi-cloud, edge, and on-prem.

As one of the top corporate contributors to the Kubernetes project, we develop enterprise-grade software solutions and provide professional services and support to safely navigate and accelerate your cloud native transformation. Our open-source Kubermatic Kubernetes Platform makes it easy to operate thousands of Kubernetes clusters on any infrastructure.

If you are looking for a neatly structured environment, we are just not a good match. But if you are thrilled by the prospect of joining a technology start-up with a lot of room for your own ideas and personal growth, we definitely should at least have a chat

Role Summary

We’re looking for a Pre-Sales Engineer who will be the technical bridge between our platform and our users. You’ll work closely with customers to ensure they’re achieving their goals with our products, from smooth onboarding and implementation to ongoing optimization and support.

You’ll combine deep technical knowledge of Kubernetes and cloud-native technologies with strong communication skills to empower our users, resolve their challenges, and champion their needs internally.

What Will You Be Doing?

  • Lead Technical Engagement: Serve as the primary technical advisor during the pre-sales process, guiding prospects through the value proposition and capabilities of the Kubermatic Kubernetes platform.
  • Demonstrate and Proof: Deliver compelling product demonstrations, technical deep-dives, and Proof of Concepts (POCs) tailored to solve specific prospect business challenges.
  • Architect Solutions: Partner with prospects to understand their current infrastructure and cloud-native strategy, designing optimal deployment architectures for Kubermatic and ensuring seamless integration into their environments.
  • Enable Customer Success: Facilitate smooth transitions from sales to post-sales by helping customers with the initial deployment, configuration, and best-practice implementation of our platform.
  • Troubleshoot and Advise: Apply deep expertise in Kubernetes, container orchestration, and cloud networking to address complex technical queries and remove architectural roadblocks for prospects.
  • Educate and Empower: Conduct technical workshops, training sessions, and enablement sessions for customer teams, demonstrating the strategic advantages of our platform.
  • Strategic Feedback Loop: Act as the "Voice of the Customer," meticulously gathering technical and feature feedback from prospects and communicating these insights directly to the Product and Engineering teams to influence the product roadmap and competitive strategy.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with the Sales, Product, and Engineering teams to ensure technical alignment, drive successful evaluations, and accelerate deal closure.

What You Should Bring

Required Skills

  • Excellent English communication skills for communication, documentation, and customer engagement.
  • Real-world experience building container technologies, cloud-native architectures, and the challenges of building systems at scale, with an in-depth understanding of Kubernetes.
  • Ability to articulate complex technical and architectural problems and propose iterative solutions.
  • A pragmatic and collaborative mindset with a focus on results.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting enterprise customers or working with complex technical environments.
  • Knowledge of programming or scripting languages (e.g., Go, Python, Bash) is a plus.
  • Experience with CNCF projects or Kubernetes ecosystem tools and/or contributions to open source projects in the cloud-native space.

What We Offer

  • Work with cutting-edge technologies in the Kubernetes and cloud-native ecosystem.
  • Be part of an open, collaborative, and highly skilled international team.
  • Flexible work hours, remote-friendly culture, and a flat hierarchy.
  • Access to professional development, certifications, and industry conferences.
  • Opportunities to contribute to open-source projects and the wider Kubernetes community.
  • Regular team events, hackathons, and (if on-site) a modern office in Hamburg with a great team atmosphere.
