About the Position
The EFFECT Photonics site in The Netherlands designs and sells cutting-edge photonic components for telecom and datacom, including tuneable lasers and other photonics integrated circuits.
We are looking for a hands-on Product Engineer NPI for photonics products. You will be part of a small team that drives the transition of new photonics products from design into full-scale manufacturing. You’ll be responsible for improving end-to-end yield and manufacturing cost, a smooth production ramp-up, maintaining documentation accuracy, and supporting design-for-manufacturing (DFM) in close collaboration with our product design teams and our Asian based contract manufacturer.

Analyze production data to improve yields and reduce defects.

Improve calibration scripts and methodologies for the photonic IC.

Be part of technical investigations (RCA) and DoE definitions.

Evaluate design specifications to ensure components meet performance, reliability, and manufacturing requirements.

Collaborate cross-functionally with design, quality, and operations teams.

Identify cost-reduction opportunities and implement solutions.

Be the gatekeeper for DFM in communications between Engineering, Quality and CM.

Ensure product quality by critical review of control plans and 8D procedures.

Work with CMs towards optimum process flow definition, with the CM being the process domain experts.

Lead factory product training and troubleshooting as part of NPI.

Manage and control production documentation (BOMs, work instructions, etc.)

Degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, or related field.

Proficiency with data analysis platforms like JMP and Dashboarding Tools such as PowerBI to articulate complex data sets and drive actionable insights.

Proficient in Python for use in test systems.

Familiarity in working with PLM systems (like Arena).

Experience working with offshore contract manufacturing.

Experience working with and understanding of optical components – lasers and PICs.

Strong knowledge of testing, validation, and troubleshooting methodologies.

Knowledge Quality tools e.g. 8D, PFMEA, Fishbone, Control Plans.

Ability to use Solidworks or other CAD tools is a plus.

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Willingness\Ability to travel internationally ~15-20%.
