About the Position

EFFECT Photonics is looking for a full-time Senior Hardware Engineer to work on current and next generation Optical Sub-Assemblies. This is a cross-functional position that combines hardware development, control systems and lab characterization. You will work on new highly integrated telecom and datacom products using the latest integrated photonics technology from EFFECT Photonics.

The position is located in our headquarters in Eindhoven, The Netherlands.

Role responsibilities

  • Improve current and propose new electronics designs for integrated laser assemblies and other products, and test infrastructure for them.
  • Make and document electronics design choices to fit the product requirements.
  • Schematics and layout design, and component selection.
  • Design verification with respect to signal and power integrity and EMC.
  • Conduct experiments in the lab to verify system functionality and performance.
  • Work closely with mechanical, optical and photonic integrated circuit design engineers to advance the architecture of our upcoming products.

Job Requirements

Required / Desired knowledge, skills, and abilities

  • Master of Science (MSc) degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • At least 7+ years of relevant industry experience, preferably with high-density electronics design and manufacturing, experience with integrated laser assemblies and/or plug-able modules is appreciated.
  • Experienced in both schematics and layout design. Experience with Altium Designer, and power and signal integrity tools are a plus.
  • Detailed knowledge of circuit theory, filter design and design optimization.
  • Understanding of product development challenges for industrial temperature range, including thermal interface aspects and component selection.
  • Experience with integration of linear and switched-mode power supply ICs. Knowledge on discrete supply and drive circuit design, and the associated control systems is appreciated.
  • Experience with mixed signal electronics designs with precision microcontrollers and fast digital communication interfaces.
  • Experience with analog electronics design for precision applications, Python and/or C/C++ programming are a plus.
  • Hands-on mentality and practical experience with electronics evaluation and debugging in the lab.
  • Excellent communication skills in English both oral and written.
