What will you be doing at DeepL?
As a Team Lead in the Language Team you will play a pivotal role in guiding and empowering a team of experienced Language Specialists. Your responsibilities include supporting team members in their daily tasks, facilitating their professional growth, and fostering a positive team culture. From assisting with hiring and onboarding to conducting regular one-on-one sessions, you'll be instrumental in ensuring the team's productivity and efficiency. Moreover, you'll leverage data insights to anticipate challenges, identify opportunities for improvement, and optimize resource allocation for upcoming projects. Collaborating cross-functionally and contributing to departmental objectives, you'll champion process improvements and spearhead the implementation of new tools to streamline workflows. Ultimately, as the main point of contact for team-related inquiries, you'll be at the forefront of driving success in language data initiatives.
Your Responsibilities
- Coach and lead a group of Language Specialists working closely with the Research Team
- Support your team in their day-to-day work, unblocking any challenges they may have
- Assist with hiring/interviewing new team members
- Help your team members improve their productivity & efficiency
- Support to build and maintain a great culture within the team
- Assist with training & onboarding new starters
- Help your team members with their skills & career development
- Hold regular 1:1s with your team members
- Support the running of weekly team meetings
- Utilise our data to anticipate and mitigate issues before project kick-off
- Work to identify opportunities to improve team performance & efficiencies
- Collaborate on projects to support the delivery of team and department OKRs
- Partner up cross-functionally to help with the delivery of projects & process improvements
- Utilise our statistics to anticipate resource needs for upcoming projects
- Help with the design and implementation of new tooling for Language Team workflows
About you
- You have a passion for linguistics and Project Management and have at least 4 years of experience leading a team of at least 6 people
- Ideally you have experience both working with and leading a team of linguists in the language industry
- Helping others comes naturally to you, and you are passionate about new technical developments related to our products
- You enjoy solving problems and learning new things
- You are empathetic and understanding of others’ needs and actively show an interest in coaching & leadership
- You have the ability to analyze and understand data with the aim of anticipating and preventing issues
- You have strong communication skills (written, verbal) and are highly organised
- Your proactive nature and willingness to try new things helps you to master ambiguous situations
- You enjoy project work and have extensive experience leading projects and working cross-functionally
