Our AI assurance software "Calvin" offers deep evaluations and testing of AI systems for quality assurance and risk assessment purposes, and support for building and managing the AI governance process of enterprises. The software delivers quality assurance and governance for predictive Machine Learning and Generative AI systems, as well as agents and agentic workflows. The primary target industries of Calvin Risk are regulated industries such as the financial services sector with various larger banks and insurances as clients. The Calvin team helps customers to measure and test AI quality in a standardized and automated manner, digitalize governance policies, requirements and risk assessments, and ensure compliance with emerging AI safety regulations and best practices.
This is an opportunity to join a start-up at its earliest stages as a Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE). In this role, you will be the critical technical bridge between our core platform and our clients' real-world, often complex, MLOps environments. You will be part of an interdisciplinary team of technical and non-technical experts and experience a thriving, innovative, and collaborative environment.
What you will do as a Forward Deployed Engineer:
- Integrate & Build: Write the custom Python adapter code and build the integrations necessary to connect the Calvin Risk platform seamlessly with diverse client infrastructure.
- Creative Problem Solving: Real-world enterprise environments are rarely pristine. You will use a healthy dose of technical pragmatism and creative problem-solving to make things work, adapting our solutions to fit clients MLOps pipelines.
- Technical Partnership: Act as the technical counterpart during client deployments and client project. You will usually be paired with a business counterpart, focusing your energy on collaborating directly with the client's data scientists, MLOps engineers, and technical leads.
- Navigate the ML Landscape: Leverage your broad understanding of the AI/ML ecosystem to evaluate client environments, identify deployment roadblocks, and implement risk frameworks across various model types.
-
Who you are
- The Solutions Architect Mindset: You come from a background in Tech Consulting, Solutions Architecture, or a similar client-facing technical role. You are not a pure software developer; you are a builder who loves solving technical problems.
- Technical Chops: Python is mandatory and feels like a second language to you. You are highly comfortable with Docker and cloud environments (AWS, etc.).
- AI/ML Breadth over Depth: We value breadth over academic depth. You have a strong foundational grasp of the ML landscape, from data analytics to NLP concepts, and the ability to quickly research and apply pragmatic solutions. You know what it takes to bring models into the real world, including assessing risk, testing outputs, and ensuring reliability.
- A Pragmatic Executor: You understand that perfect is the enemy of deployed. You can balance engineering best practices with the realities of tight shipping cycles and messy client data.
