Job Description
Your crew during this flight:
We are a growing team working on flight control systems for the next generation aircraft of Volocopter. You will be reporting to the head of flight control and navigation while your future crew consists of motivated people aiming to contribute to the future of flight control systems.
Your mission during this flight:
As Senior Flight Control Laws Engineer working on the next generation aircraft of Volocopter, you will be responsible for developing and deploying flight control laws. You will coordinate design, implementation, and testing of control laws that will literally take off in front of you. You will not just sit at your desk, but also get the chance to witness the actual aircraft and flights.
Job Description
- You will design and implement flight control law algorithms using the model-based design workflow
- You will validate, verify, test and document flight control laws
- You will take technical ownership of flight control/estimation subsystems
- You will support the development of SiL, MiL, PiL and HiL testing platforms
- You will support the development and maintenance of our MBD toolchain which follows the continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD) approach
Qualifications
Check in your professional skills:
- PhD + 3 years of experience OR 5+ years of relevant work experience
- Excellent understanding of control theory and flight mechanics
- Practical experience of developing flight control laws for a fixed wing aircraft
- Proficient in C, Matlab, Simulink programming languages
- Hands-on attitude, passion for making and seeing stuff work/move/fly
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently
- Ability to take ownership of the task and guiding others
- Good understanding of signal filtering techniques and state-estimation techniques.
Preferred skills
- Experience with other programming languages (e.g. Python, C++) is a plus
- Experience with software engineering best practices, such as continuous integration systems (e.g. Git, Jenkins, etc.) and software testing methodologies
- Structured way of working, attention to detail, high sense of responsibility and accountability
- Familiarity with DO178C or similar aviation development standards such as ARP4754 is a plus
- In-person availability in or near Munich with the flexibility to support flight testing
